The Tiniest Territory for Endemic Bird Family

Project progress - Bird Families of the World 235/250
94%

One of the easiest ticks during Puerto Rico endemics cleanup is the monotype family of Puerto Rican Tanager. This species is common on mid and high elevation. Most of our trip was on the south-west corner of the island, and it was seen many times around Maricao and road 120. Other important endemics to be mentioned: Critically endangered Puerto Rican Parrot and  endangered Puerto Rican Nightjar,  Yellow-shouldered Blackbird and Elfin Wood Warbler. Puerto Rico is also a good place for 2 other Caribbean endemic families:  Todies (Todidae) and Spindalises (Spindalidae) (near endemic).
