Patagonia, the south end of both Argentina and Chile, serves as a preferred location for these two wader families. I choose Argentina particle reasons. Reserva Laguna Nimez at El Calafate was the spot for Magellanic Plover.

Snowy Sheathbill found in a few locations, on shore cliffs near Puerto Madryn and on Valdes Peninsula, always in South American Sea Lion colonies.

Two ancient families to be mentioned: Rheas – Lesser Rhea seen in many places while driving Patagonia. Tinamous – Elegant Crested-Tinamou is an exceptional member of this enigmatic family. While in most Neotropical habitats Tinamous are mainly heard and hardly seen, this member behaves more like a partridge on exposed grassland areas.
